Namhansanseong Fortress is one of the fortresses that protects Seoul North and South together with Bukhansanseong Fortress. It was selected as Historical Landmark No 57 in 1963 and as Namhansanseong Provincial Park in 1971. On June 2014, it was registered as the World Cultural Heritage in the UNESCO meeting held in Doha, Qatar due to its recognized historical and cultural values.
